Climate Talk Ranges Widely

WASHINGTON (DTN) -- Patrick O'Toole, owner and manager of Ladder Livestock in Wyoming, lost 150 lambs to rain that turned to snow and ice a couple of weeks ago. That's becoming a more frequent occurrence, he said. He pointed to winter storm Atlas last fall that wiped out thousands of cattle in the Dakotas, as well. Still, ranchers remain reluctant to consider possible climate change affecting extreme weather.

"In the west, people are very distrustful of government, there's just no arguing that," O'Toole said.
