FEMA Decision Appealed

OMAHA (DTN) -- Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad asked the federal government Tuesday to reconsider a previous denial for request for federal disaster aid in response to an April ice storm in northwest Iowa that caused some $19 million in damage to power lines for several rural power providers, according to a news release from Branstad's office.

The April 9, 2013, storm caused damage to lines in five Iowa counties including Dickinson, Lyon, O'Brien, Osceola and Sioux. The Obama administration made a disaster declaration on May 6, 2013.
