Vilsack Takes on US Sugar Growers over Trade Dispute with Mexico

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack on April 3 said a countervailing duty and antidumping case that U.S. sugar producers filed March 28 against the Mexican industry risks upsetting negotiations with Mexico over removing barriers to other U.S. commodities, including potatoes and beef. Vilsack told the House Agriculture Committee that the case was “ill-timed.”
