More Good News on the Federal Deficit Front

Congressional fights about the federal budget deficit notwithstanding, the nation’s fiscal position appears to be improving, and at an accelerating pace.

The latest figures released by the Treasury Department show that the U.S. budget deficit narrowed by 37% in the first four months of the fiscal year (Oct. 2013-Jan. 2014), compared with the same period a year earlier, as spending declined and a stronger economy helped increase revenue.
