U.S. Official Optimistic as Trade Talks with Japan Get Underway

The United States and Japan last week completed the first round of bilateral trade talks that they are holding in tandem with Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations. Speaking earlier this week to Japan's National Press Club in Tokyo, U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman said the talks are off to a "good start," although serious Japanese trade barriers remain to be overcome.
