Dockworker Strike Averted in Pacific Northwest, at Least for Now

The International Longshoremen's and Warehouse Union says its workers will not go on strike against grain shippers at Pacific Northwest ports despite shippers imposing what the union calls "substandard" contract terms. As a result, major grain exporters with facilities in the PNW yesterday notified the ILWU that they would implement the terms of what they labeled their last, best and final contract offer.
