House Panel Hears RFS Pros, Cons

STREATOR, Ill. (DTN) -- To repeal or not to repeal the Renewable Fuel Standard? That is the question before the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power at a hearing Tuesday with testimony from producers of both renewable and petroleum-based fuels on opposite sides of the issue.

First introduced in 2005 and amended in 2007, the RFS, which is part of the Clean Air Act administered by the Environmental Protection Agency, requires higher levels of renewables to be blended each year into petroleum-based fuels through 2022 when it reaches 36 billion gallons.
