U.S. spot ethanol prices accelerated higher Thursday afternoon amid talk supplies were tight outside the Midwest ethanol producing region of the United States, with sources saying limited railcar capacity is delaying shipments to "destination markets" along the West, Gulf and East coasts.

Prompt delivered Argo ethanol was valued 4 cents higher at $2.36 per gallon while prompt delivered New York Harbor ethanol barge valued up 2.5 cents at $3.325 per gallon. Northern California prompt ethanol prices gained 1.5 cents on offer at $3.40 per gallon.
