STREATOR, Ill. (DTN) -- The Renewable Energy Group's Seneca, Ill., biodiesel plant began barge operations on Friday along the Illinois River, with 2.5 million gallons of added biodiesel storage capacity.

REG, the largest U.S. biodiesel producer with an annual capacity of 257 million gallons, said it put the barge terminal at its largest production facility in Seneca, a 60 MMGY plant, to take advantage of waterways and expand its distribution geography.
