STREATOR, Ill. (DTN) -- The Environmental Protection Agency reported on Wednesday, Feb. 19, that 1.171 billion D6 Renewable Identification Numbers were generated in January, down 5.6% from the 1.241 billion generated in December 2013.

Domestic production and imports generating D6 RINs, which is primarily corn-based ethanol, was 1.161 billion gallons in January, down from 1.223 billion in December.

D6 RINs are equal to 1 gallon of renewable fuel produced or imported.
