NEW YORK (DTN) -- Total U.S. fuel ethanol inventories last week jumped 600,000 barrels (bbl), or 3.6%, to 16.1 million bbl, the highest level since the week-ended Sept. 13, as domestic production increased while demand slumped, the Energy Information Administration reported Wednesday.

Total supplies for the week-ended Jan. 3 were 3.7 million bbl or 18.7% below the level seen a year earlier, according to the EIA data.

EIA also showed ethanol production at U.S. plants rose last week by 6,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 919,000 bpd during the week profiled, while up 93,000 bpd from a year ago. This ...
