Pakistan Buys Australian Canola

SINGAPORE (Dow Jones) -- Pakistan is buying canola seed from Australia at a higher price after Ukraine's shipment to Pakistan was canceled due to tight supply and cold weather, trading executives in Singapore and Karachi said Tuesday.

"At least one cargo of around 40,000 metric tons that was scheduled for shipment from Ukraine was canceled because heavy snowfall in the Black Sea region has hampered movement of commodities from countryside to ports," said a Karachi-based importer.

Pakistani buyers had contracted Ukrainian canola seed around $637/ton, basis cost and freight, importers said.
