March milk production increased 1.1% in the top 23 states. Production per cow totaled 1,959. We do not have anything to compare to last year due to USDA not reporting monthly cow numbers or production per cow for a period of four months. Cow numbers increased 1,000 head from February. The number of cows on farms in the U.S. totaled 9.218 million at the end of March. U.S. milk production increased 1.0%.
