Milk production in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions of the country has been fairly steady. Recent winter weather has hindered growth in milk production as cow comfort and feeding challenges had significant impact. Bottling demand is sluggish due to previous heavy consumer purchases delaying regular demand. This will change as consumers return to normal patterns with bottlers increasing production to supply regular demand. Milk supply for cheese manufacturing is increasing with little evidence they are looking for additional supply. The desire is to keep manufacturing in line with demand. This keeps inventory from building seasonally.
