By all accounts, milk production remains steady. Cows are having greater difficulty rebounding from the last hot spell in late August, early September. It may require the next lactation to get full production potential out of the cows. It certainly has been a good fall for much of the country (except the Dakotas) allowing for crops to mature resulting in lower feed prices. Reports out of New Zealand indicate milk production should reach its peak by the end of this month. Current estimates are for production to be 5% above last year.
