Milk

Milk production is at the seasonal low point and should begin to turn the corner and head higher. Some rebound in production has happened since the recent period of hot weather. Milk production continues to outpace last year which is expected to continue the rest of the year. Bottling demand remains steady to school accounts. The August Consumer Price Index is 1.0% higher than a year ago at 216.8. The U.S. City Average Retail Price for a gallon of whole milk in August was $3.45 down 2.5 cents from a year earlier.
