Lower milk production across the country was the predominate news. Hot weather hung on long enough to affect milk output. Weather is expected to moderate and become more seasonal, which will allow for better cow comfort. Corn silage harvesting is in full swing with much of the harvest complete in the South and now moving up through the Midwest, Northeast and beginning in the Upper Midwest. Yields are variable with plants drying down rather quickly. Most farms have better feed inventory than last year. Lower corn price should keep milk production strong. Fluid milk sales in July decline 0.5%. ...
