Milk futures continue to remain volatile as dairy market fundamentals, outside market fundamentals and cash markets continue to impact traders. Seasonality would suggest milk prices should move higher as greater demand for milk to schools competes with manufacturing. However, milk supply is sufficient to meet current demand with excess milk availability nearly non-existent. Support stemming from recent hot weather may be temporary as the perception of tighter supply wanes once cooler weather again returns.
