Milk production has been slowly improving. It is interesting to see that excess milk in the Central region of the country is commanding a premium of $1-$2.50 over class despite the increase in demand for Class I milk. Milk is beginning to move to the South and East in greater volumes with increased demand over the next few weeks as schools open for the year. Heifer demand has improved as the outlook for lower feed prices has prompted producers to purchase replacement and fill some empty stalls.
