USDA kept milk production unchanged at 201.8 billion pounds this year. The surprise was their initial estimate for 2014 production of 204.6 billion pounds. It appears they have factored in the large projected ending stocks of 2013/14 corn and the potential of lower corn price improving milk production and profitability. Marketings and commercial use were left virtually unchanged for this year, but was raised next year and rightly so as world supply is expected to tighten somewhat.
