Milk futures closed mixed, receiving little direction from underlying cash. This has become a regular pattern for a number of weeks with traders scalping the market regardless of strength or weakness in cheese or butter prices. The Farm Service Agency has been given the all-clear from Congress to resume the MILC payments retroactively that had been put on hold as a result of sequestering. County FSA offices are now authorized to start processing fiscal year 2013 (starting in October of 2012) MILC payments to producers.
