Dairy futures trading got off to a slow start after the extended holiday weekend. As spot trading drew closer, activity began increasing with traders initially reacting to lower block cheese prices by selling more heavily. However, once the initial reaction was digested, futures contracts then came back to closed mixed. It will be up to the underlying cash to provide any market direction. The Global Dairy Trade results were positive with the trade weighted average up 3.1% from the previous event. Whole milk powder increased 5.8% to $3,654mt or $1.66 per pound.
