Milk

Strong milk production keeps plant receipts heavy. Bottling demand is steady with extra milk moving to manufacturing in some areas of the country. Other areas, primarily the West, are indicating milk production below last year with milk supply easily handled. Milk components remain strong improving cheese yield and also providing sufficient cream for butter production. Farm margins are tight, but have yet to impact overall milk production. Alternative feeds are being included in the ration, which in many cases is improving milk production.
