There were mixed feelings over the strength of milk production during the month of December. The increase in milk production of 1.7% in the top 23 states was above expectations with production in all 50 states increasing 1.6%. This puts annual milk production up 2.1% for the year. Fourth-quarter milk production was up 0.9%. Milk production per cow in both the top 23 states and nationwide was 30 pounds higher than November.
