Hog buyers have resumed work this morning with bids ranging from steady to $1 higher. Most packers appear to be using steady money. Wintry conditions and icy roads will continue to restrict hog slaughter along parts of the East Coast. Cattle feeding country remains in slow motion in the early rounds with packers both short bought and nervous about late month beef demand. Asking prices are around $148-150 in the South and $242-plus in the North.
Significant trade volume could easily be delayed until Friday. Corn futures have open 3-4 cents higher in light trade volume.
