The cash hog trade has opened with bids ranging from steady to $1 lower. But most buyers appear to be working 0.50-$1 lower. Cattle country is quiet in the early rounds, yet packers will have to find time today to own at least light to moderate numbers Asking prices are around $133-$134 in the South and $208-plus in the North. Corn futures seem ready to open 2-3 cents higher with the help of short covering and spillover buying from the bean pit.
