GENERAL COMMENTS:

Packer inquiry in cattle feeding country is limited this morning with just a few bids of $205-206 noted in parts of the North. We assume Southern buyers will be willing to refresh preliminary bids of $129, but really haven't seen that so far. Hog buyers have started work bidding stead to $1 lower (mostly steady to 0.50 lower). Yesterday's reduction in hog slaughter was caused by technical problems at the Worthington plant. It sounds like the Saturday plant will now be some larger (i.e., 220,000) as Swift makes up for lost time. Corn futures are anticipated to begin ...
