GENERAL COMMENTS:

Livestock futures are called to open mostly lower with uncertainty in outside markets and lack of direction in meat fundamentals keeping most traders on the defensive. Even with a new month and quarter, traders seem very unwilling to look too far into the future as the drama of governmental shutdowns loom over traders' decisions. Corn futures are trading lower in early trade. The stock market is trading higher. The Dow Jones Index is 13 points higher while Nasdaq is up 14 points.
