GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle radar at midweek continues to show a blank screen with buyers not even bothering with token bids. Some showlists are priced around $148 in the South and $238-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base is 0.86 higher compared with the Prior Day settlement ($108.00-$114.00, weighted average $111.91). Corn futures closed 2-4 cents lower, pressured by profit taking and increase in ethanol stocks.
