GENERAL COMMENTS:

Packer inquiry was no better than light in cattle country Thursday with a few scattered bids of $147 in the South and $239 in the North. Asking prices remained firm at $153 in the South and $246-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is .31 higher ($120.00 to $130.00, weighted average $128.24).
