GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle trade Thursday was dead quiet with business apparently done for the week. Steers and heifers remaining on showlists were priced around $152-$153 in the South and $246-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is $3.03 higher ($114.00 to $133.01, weighted average $129.82). The corn market finished generally 4-7 cents higher, powered by surging price action in the wheat pit and bullish export news.
