GENERAL COMMENTS:

While a few preliminary bids were tossed on the table (e.g., $147 in the South, $237 in the North), the cash cattle trade remained untested. Asking prices were around $151 or better in the South and $245 or better in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is $2.42 higher ($117.00 to $126.00, weighted average $122.91).
