GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle trade was a no-show with a general absence of packer bids and poorly defining asking prices. A few feedlot managers suggested asking prices of $151-plus in the South and $245-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is $2.01 higher ($115.00 to $123.00, weighted average $121.13). The corn market closed generally 5-7 cents higher, supported by strong weekly export sales.
