GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle trade was generally quiet following the midweek price explosion. A few scattered sales were reported in the North at $240 dressed and $152.50 live. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is $2.17 higher ($89.00 to $101.00, weighted average $98.96). The corn market slumped by 5-7 cents, pressured by a late-session sell-off in the bean pit.
