GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle business was limited to light trading in parts of Iowa where dressed deals were marked at $225-226, $4-$5 lower than last week's weighted average. Elsewhere, even token buying interest was tough to identify. Asking prices were around $145-plus in the South and $232-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is $1.07 higher ($74.00 to $85.25, weighted average $83.62).
