GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle market was not tested Wednesday, with just a few Northern bids floated at $234. Asking prices remain firm at $150-plus in the South and $242-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is 0.27 lower ($72.00 to $83.25, weighted average $80.27). Corn futures closed lower, down 4 1/2 in March and down 4 in May through December contracts.
