GENERAL COMMENTS:

According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is 0.04 higher ($72.00 to $82.00, weighted average $80.62). Corn futures closed fractionally mixed in the old-crop contracts to 2 lower in the new crop.

LIVE CATTLE:

Futures closed lower, down 20 to 60. The up and down moves seen in live cattle futures were unable to be sustained through the trading session. Any buyer support seen in nearby contracts at midday quickly eroded as the uncertainty about early cash cattle trade and firm boxed beef values left traders ...
