GENERAL COMMENTS:

Cattle country was extremely quiet as packers limited efforts to the collection of new showlists. The fed offering appears to be generally larger than last week with only Kansas showing fewer ready steers and heifers. Some producers waited to start cash conversation around $140 in the South and $222-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is $1.48 higher ($73.50 to $81.00, weighted average $79.48).
