GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle market was very quiet through the day with packers and feedlot managers focusing on showlist distribution. The new offering of ready numbers appears to be about steady with last week. A few early asking prices are around $132 to $133 in the South and $210-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base was not reported due to confidentiality. Corn futures closed higher, up 1 in the March, May and July contracts.
