GENERAL COMMENTS:

According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is 1.73 lower ($63.00 to $76.00, weighted average $74.97). Corn futures closed higher, up 5 1/2 in the March, up 5 in the May and July.

LIVE CATTLE:

Futures closed higher, up 62 to 85. Buyer support developed through live cattle futures as the day continued. December contracts led the market higher, closing at $131.80 per cwt after an 85-cent rally. The lack of downside pressure in the week could help to create some increased stability through the market. ...
