GENERAL COMMENTS:

According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is 1.43 lower ($63.00 to $79.00, weighted average $76.79). Corn futures closed modestly lower, down 1 3/4 in the March and May and down 1 1/2 in the July.

LIVE CATTLE:

Futures closed lower, down 52 to 80. Moderate to sharp losses developed in live cattle futures as traders followed the direction of feeder cattle futures.
