Activity in cattle country was limited to the distribution of new showlists. In general, ready numbers appear to be somewhat smaller than last week. Preliminary asking prices were around $134-$135 in the South and $212-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is 0.11 lower ($77 to $84.50, weighted average $81.79). For the most part, corn futures closed fractionally higher, curtailed by limited buying interest and aggressive selling in the wheat and bean markets.
