GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle trade remained dormant through the session with serious bids difficult to identify. Asking prices held around $133-plus in the South and $208-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is $1.39 higher ($75.25 to $82.00, weighted average $80.64). Corn futures finished generally 6 cents lower, checked by large harvest supplies. Wall Street's dazzling rally continued Tuesday as better-than-expected reports on housing ignited bullishness among home builders. The Dow closed fractionally higher and the Nasdaq settled up 23.
