GENERAL COMMENTS:

The early week cash cattle market was limited to the standard drill involving the distribution of new showlists. The offering is generally smaller with only Texas presenting more ready steers and heifers. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is $1.40 lower ($75.00 to $80.00, weighted average $78.22). Corn futures fell to new 2013 lower (i.e., off 9-10 cents), checked by further selling linked to last week's EPA decision to lower ethanol production.
