GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle trade at midday essentially remained grounded. A few starter bids were floated in parts of the South at $129. Asking prices stayed firm at $133-$134 in Kansas and Texas, $208-$209 in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base is 0.35 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement ($77.50-$83.75, weighted average $81.53). Corn futures finished 3-5 cents lower, checked by a general lack of news and buying enthusiasm.
