GENERAL COMMENTS:

No reportable cash cattle trade noted Tuesday. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed at $86.08 (weighted average), 1.88 lower; the full price range was $85.00 to $87.00. Corn futures closed lower, down 5 to 6 cents.

LIVE CATTLE:

Futures closed higher, up 57 to 107. Despite the expectations that very little interest would develop early in the session, buyers quickly jumped on the bandwagon as a combination of commercial and noncommercial support trickled into live cattle futures.
