GENERAL COMMENTS:

Activity in cattle country was typically limited to the distribution of new showlists. The mid-month offering is generally smaller than the prior week with only Colorado producers showing about the same number of ready steers and heifers. Preliminary asking prices seem firm at $130 to $131 in the South and $202-plus in the North. The closing Iowa hog base is not available. The thin test reported by private terminals was mostly higher, ranging from $4 higher to $1 lower (i.e., $57-66 on a live basis).
