GENERAL COMMENTS:

Light cattle trade developed Friday with both live and dressed prices basically steady with last week. Limited volume was noted in Kansas at $123 and in Nebraska at mostly $194. Trade volume looks quite light suggesting that business could still develop late today or feedlots will be forced to carry over unsold numbers into Monday. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed $0.88 higher compared with the Prior Day settlement $86.25-$99.01 (weighted average $95.53). Corn futures closed lower, mostly down 7 cents. September closed down 29 cents.
