GENERAL COMMENTS:

Cattle buyers and sellers remained at arm's length throughout the day with only scattered trade reported in parts of the North. For the most part, bids and asking prices seemed to be separated by $4-$5. Once again, a meaningful market test will be delayed until Friday. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed 0.44 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement $74-$92 (weighted average $89.90).
