GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle trade remained up on blocks Thursday with few packers even bothering to throw out token bids. Asking prices remained firm at $125 in the South and $200 in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed .80 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement $84.00-93.00, weighted average $87.28). Though still supported by hot temperatures, corn futures only closed modestly higher for the most part with bullish enthusiasm checked by international uncertainty surrounding Syria.
